Rustington got back to winning ways with a 7-2 victory away to AFC Portchester. Blues controlled the game from start to finish and took the lead within the first 30 seconds when Richard Kinyua headed home a pin point cross from Adam Plummer. The same two combined on 5 minutes when a through ball from Kinyua released Plummer to chip the advancing goalkeeper to double the lead. On 15 minutes Plummer scored his second and the Blues third when he again lifted the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area. Rustington increased the lead midway through the first half when Ryan Harvey chased a ball out wide and his cross drifted over the keeper and into the far top corner of the net. Richard Kinyua added a fifth soon afterwards and then a defensive lapse allowed Portchester to net an undeserved goal.
The second half continued in the same vein when Harvey scored his second and Blues sixth when he latched onto a pass played inside the Portchester left back and calmly placed the ball wide of the keeper and in the bottom corner. With Rustington now pushing on it was inevitable that we would be caught on the break and this happened on seventy minutes when Portchester scored a second.
David Herbert added a seventh with five minutes left with a nice looping header over the keeper after he could only pat away a right wing cross from Harvey.
Overall a pleasing performance from the boys.
