Management duo Collins & Bird have a lot to ponder prior to the important match in the Vernon Wentworth Cup.
As holders of the cup through the Rustington First Team in previous years, the game is extremely important to the club but the joint managers do have a couple of selection worries with Rob Butcher ill with a chest infection, Dan Webb with Flu, and Chris Kirkham with a hamstring injury.
Although their squad is bolstered with parts of the first team squad in Chris Couzens, Gavin Hammond and Jamey Bashford, Steve and Paul are philosophical about the loss of Terry Withers.
"We fully support Terrys decision to play First Team football again after his brilliant performance on Saturday against Mile Oak in the SCFL Division 2. His retirement from Senior Football was a surprise to everyone and to be honest, Birdy and I are not surprised that the lure of Senior football is still too great for him to not play their." Steve told the Rustington website.
"He is a massively influential member of Rustington FC and I am sure he will play a huge part again in the First Team as he has done for ours in the last few weeks"
"With luck (for us) he will drift betweeen the two squads and both Gareth and I will gain from his experience, skill and drive to win in some part for the rest of the season and beyond."
"Barnham FC are a quality side in the West Sussex Football League Premier Division and have 8 wins in the last ten to their name. We will not underestimate them and although we will give them respect on the pitch we do realise that we are favourites for to go on and win."
Rustington Reserves face Barnham in a 1:30pm kick off at Jubilee Avenue Recreation Ground. Spectators and Players are reminded that the Clubhouse car-park is reserved for Sports & Social club members and the actual match-day car park is located in Woodlands Avenue across from the pitch.
